We travelled 15 miles one night to rescue a kitten that had been under a car for 2 days. Took my two kids ... obviously ! All the way, it was questions, questions questions ... all I could say was, Maybe, maybe, maybe ... in the end I said ' if we keep this *** little thing, I'm calling it MAYBE ' famous last words ! Maybe is my son's best friend. He is the ONLY one of us she will sleep with, or will let pick her up. I feel such a fool when I shout her in at night, but she comes from anywhere to her name ... just like a dog !! Maybe Baby I call her ! Elaine :-) Just realized what Maxine means on her reply !!! Cookie indeed !

Our cats were called Merry (long-haired tortoishell - well calico cat really because she had white patches too), her sister was Pip (short-haired grey, apricot and white tortoishell), Merry's boys: Toby (long-haired black, aka Beauty) and Sam (long-haired smokey grey - the only one left at nearly 20, and currently snoring on my bed). Pip's babies: Ben (short-haired light ginger, aka Lion Cub - pink, and flatulent, as a baby when his pet name was Rinky Dinky Stinky Pinky), Sandy (short-haired ginger male, aka Tiger), Mahler (went to friends who were keen on the composer, short-haired smokey grey female), and Gus (long-haired black and white male). Other family cat names are Tigger, Rocky, Lucky, Tiny and Smokey Joe. Sorry for going on so. Christina

All our cats are named after tube stations. We have Finchley, Black all over, unfortunately she has left home to live with a bloke round the corner called Ken (he feeds her gourmet cat food Iv'e seen him buying it in Tescos). Neasden, Female tortoiseshell, keeps the others in line. Putney, Black and white male who hassles me constantly for no reason, and he dribbles! Brixton, All black, everybody's favourite, Putney's brother, found with their feral mother by my husband in a stack of pallets where he worked. I am not getting any more cats, but when I DON'T we are going to call them Osmosis, (because cats get in everywhere, we don't know how). Called Ozzie for short, and Allergen (my daughter's allergic to cats and dogs but it doesn't stop us), Allie for short.

My friend had a white cat called Sooty, I had Lucy and Selena, but lost both of those to people putting down poison for vermin. Then I had another Lucy, Toby and a black one with a white bib called Dandy. A tortoiseshell one adopted me when I was pregnant so I called her Chloe. When my son was born I had Lucy, Toby and Chloe and then got a puppy called Daisy. Another friend had a cat called Mr Smith. He moved house and the cat started going outside, one night he went out and started calling 'Mr Smith, come on in' and his new neighbour came out to ask what he wanted. Yes, he was Mr Smith too. A new neighbour here, a young single man, has a cat called Babe. He says he feels silly now calling her in. Why not call your new kitten Kizzy after the newly born granddaughter of another member on this board? Have fun with your new pet, whatever you name them. Liz
