Scottish records now on Genes Reunited

We are extremely excited here in the office today as we have just added Scottish records to the site. We have the Scottish census collection from 1841 right the way through to 1901. So, for those of you with Scottish ancestry you can now start filling in the gaps.

With only 11 days left until Christmas, we thought it was about time we added some festivity to the logo. When deciding what Christmassy additions to make this year, we started thinking about what else we have done in the past. There has been Santa hats, falling snow, snowflakes, snowmen and holly. This year we've gone with baubles. Post your suggestions below for next years festive theme!


Pedigree view now in the tree

Today we have added the Pedigree view to the tree. This means you can see the root person plus their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents all on one page. You can see the pedigree view for any person in your tree. Click on a person in your tree and then select Pedigree from the list of views at the top.

We released a few updates to the site this morning. This included new search options to search all records in a category, such as all BMD or all Census records, and also links from My Contacts or Member Details pages to view another member's keepsafe.

We are very excited to announce the launch of thousands of new military records on Genes Reunited this week. This release, which coincides aptly with Remembrance Sunday, will allow you to search thousands more military records to see if any of your ancestor fought for their country or played a part in any historical battles.From the Harold Gillies records, recording soldiers treated by the pioneering plastic surgeon Dr Gillies during WW1 to Military Nurses, the collection of records is now so varied, you’re bound to discover a member of your family who served as part of the army.
