my 3 yr old daughter had a bath at her grandads house on Sunday afternoon, a novelty bubble bath was used (from BHS, in a champagne bottle) and within an hour she was bright red all over and scratching like mad. Now shes even worse, we've just got back from the doctors and they said its an allergic reaction and gave her medicine and aqua cream. Is there anything else I can do to help her? The poor mite is scratching herself red raw, it looks like shes been burnt (red marks with white in the middle). Its all over her face too and she's off nursery. :-( |

What medicine was she given from the Dr.If you have just got it it will take a little while to kick in.Maybe a tepid bath might help.I imagine you have been given an anti histamine for her.Poor little mite,is distracting her with things helpful?? |

Just keep using the aqua cream. It's only a moisturiser, but it will help prevent the rash from drying, which is what is causing most of the itching. The medicine should be an antihistamine, so that should kick in fairly quickly. |

Sorry, was plastering her in yet more cream. Its piriton syrup that they've given us. She was in and out of the doctors in about 30 seconds flat, so I hope theyve got it right. We're presuming it was the bubble bath (father in law feels guilty as hell, but he didnt realise. She's never had allergies before at all). Thankyou for your replies, does anyone know when it'll start clearing? I'll email BHS, have a gut feeling they wont be too bothered though but hey ho. |

If she has been given piriton, the itching should stop or ease a great deal within an hour or so, the aqueous cream helps rehydrate the skin.... if it dries out, it'll get even more itchy... it might take a couple of days for the rash to clear, but at the moment, she just needs to stop itching, bless her. |

Piriton based is fairly quick acting,,,but will see effects after at least2/ 4 hours,,,,,,same course as for hayfever use.. |

Piriton should kick in pretty quick, hopefully she'll feel a little more comfy later this evening. Bless her little heart. |

I think she could have some Calpol as well as the Piriton.I think it will soon start to settle once the Piriton kicks in. |

Julie, in all fairness I think I would too, at least until the meds and the cream begin to work. |

Well personally, I don't thing she did anything wrong, it was obviously an allergic reaction, and the doctor was the best person to give advice knowing the child's history, or at least having it to hand. Maybe it was the quicker of the two choices, we don't all live within a couple of miles of a hospital. |

Just re allergies a moment, what is ok for one person can cause a really bad reaction for someone else ( sorry that sounds an 'obvious' thing to say ) but just a few days after i had dyed my own hair I saw this |
