10.21am

NO SNOW HERE. but the forcast is that we will get it, they say upto 10 inches.!!!! Very heavy frost. Had to clear the car for Ros, before she went off to see her FRIEND last time before Christmas.

If Lewis hasn't any football tomorrow (which I doubt he will) His M & D will bring him up tea time and stay for a takaway. Then we have him till next Friday.

Have decided to go to Tesc# tomorrow and get the Christmas Veg. It can sit in the garage, and I will do it, on Christmas Eve, and take it up to Rutland all prepared. We will only need to change the water in the Pots. and Parsnips.and give them a good wash. All the green veg. will be in carrier bags and they can go straight into Conrad's garage till Christmas morning. Have just remembered I MUST take the gammon out of the freezer to thaw then I can soak it for a few hours before cooking it. Will do a HONEY glaze with cloves and brown sugar. All other meats are at my sons, must rimind him to get them out of the freezer on Wed.

Had to have words with my neighbour last night. He had been out on the booze (as usual) came home put his MUSIC on and we couldn't hear our T.V. So I rang him, this was 11.30pm. !!!!!inconsiderate or what ??

Hope David is getting over his depression, about the past. We all go there sometime or another.

Another thing that My dad loved were Clarnico. Pepermint creams. That was ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT WE BOUGHT HIM AT bIRTHDAYS AND cHRISTMAS.(SORRY) keep catching the caps lock.!!! I opened a box of Turkish delight last night and had a few pieces. Still got a tin of Quality Stree# to get started on.

Still waiting for 3 presents through Ebay. One for my son turned up yesterday. still got two for Ros and one for Lewis to come.

Really snowy here this am, heavy fall earlier but now bright sunshine, have walked Millie so she's happy! will up load a piccy of me at some stage, (hope I remember how?!!) I DO like peppermint creams Frank, so I would say 'yes please and thank you' to one of those!!! not much doing today, all quiet on the family front for the time being!! Going to have a look at those photos now!!

Jane Report 18 Dec 2010 11:36

Frank was it at Easter that you forgot to take the Turkey out to defrost?
10 inches of snow!!!!! I haven't heard that.I have defrosted the bird bath twice already.I can't keep up with it lol
There has been shooting going on for weeks now.I noticed a load of pheasant hanging up at the stables the other day.
I have just dragged out the ancient Hostess Trolley .I only ever use it at Christmas and it is covered in dust and cobwebs.I do find it handy when there a lot of things to keep warm and there is not enough room in the top oven.

I was hoping I might have a new pair of slippers for Xmas ,but it doesn't seem so.Mine have just come apart so will pop to Tes** and get a new pair. Not sure if I can face the heaving crowds, but needs must.

Liz, If I thought they would get there I would send you some. !!! But I think I am too late. SORRY.

Jane, If you are anything like Ros and I. we always pop out to the dustbin, garage, chickens, in our slippers and the get ruined. My present indoor pair, I spilt fat from the oven on, and they do look a mess. I am sure a new pair are on their way from SANTA.

Snowing quite heavy here at the moment and the sky is full of it !!! If it's going to get thick, I can't see Lewis getting up to us today. They had 2 inches yesterday.

Ros has bought a smallish turkey crown for us, it's in the freezer. I said last night that if the weather gets too bad, we will be glad of that for our CHRISTMAS DINNER. Anybody want a load of Veg. lol lol.

Very frosty here ,but no snow so far .

Been to Tes*o's again , spent more money !! clothes for Katie ,a set with Skirt, top and tights , a Pepper Pig skirt and top to match, two tops with matching tights and another top with a picture of a little kitten on ,it was spend twenty five pound and get five pound off , we hadn't spent as much on her presents as the others ,and we try to treat them all the same .
Just two more presents to get ,something for Toby and another present for my sister .

My Nanny always had Chocolate covered ginger at Christmas and Ston*s Ginger Wine, and i think we had a Peach Wine too .Harve*s Bristol Cream Sherry was always put on the sideboard too.

David , hope you have bucked up a bit today , have you been feeling low ,is it the house not selling that's getting you down .

Frank i hope you don't get to much snow so you can get to your sons for Christmas ,that'll be a lot of veg to eat up, Lewis will be disappointed if he carn't get to you .

Better get these clothes wrapped up in case son comes round .

2.38pm Decided to go to Tesc#s and get all the Veg. Will put it in the garage, it's cold enough out there to freeze brass ba##s of of iron monkeys. !!!! Nearly £40.00 on veg. When you think back if you earnt £20.00 per week you were a millionaire.!!!

Have cleared a path to the garage and up the drive. Got my BIG snow shovel out of the garage in case.!!! neighbours all used it last year. It's about 3 ft wide on a long handle It's best used before to tread the snow down.

Ros is having to clear the dining table,of all the Christmas wrappings etc. for them coming tonight. We normally have our takaway on our laps. !!!

Jane Report 18 Dec 2010 15:02

Well, there were only 3 turkeys left in the freezers at Tes** so I still haven't got one. They did say there will be another load in tomorrow ,but the Crowns will fly off the shelves so I will be there for when they open.
I got a half price Xmas pud ,which no doubt I will find in the cupboard next year lol.The slippers I bought I thought had rubber bottoms .But no they just look rubbery. They are slippery so I will have to watch my step.I don't want another fall .
No snow here yet, just a few flakes earlier. But that sky does look very iffy.
Poor Hannah has had to cancel yet another Christmas do.She was going to St Albans this afternoon with some friends to meet up with and old friend of theirs. But too much snow that end.I have to say I am relieved they aren't going.

Liz ,thanks for your pic.It is nice to see who we are talking to.Put a face to a name. Was it this snow that you are standing in?
Just going to stoke up the fire

James just rang to say there is bad snow in Canterbury. He popped to Asd* with house mates in his car.It wasn't snowing then. When they came out it was like a blizzard. He has only moved a few feet in 20 minutes.
The birds are all in a frenzy here at the moment .Poor little things.I have given up defrosting that blooming bird bath.
I hope everyone is safe and warm.

LilyL Report 18 Dec 2010 16:46

Yes Jane, that's me taken this morning!!!! I'd just finished walking Millie, and OH decided on a bit of of photography!! No MORE snow here today, bur sure enough that phone went with tales of woe from Oxfordshire!!! Poor SIL has got Sciatica particularly badly and ended up in Newbury Hospital yesterday evening in agony! (They run a Coach Co, I think I've said!!) He was on the way home having dropped off his last 'old biddy' as they tend to call these poor souls, who are probably younger than me! when the pain was SO awful he drove in to the hospital car park and went to A&E!! Strong pain killers, and an appointment with the GP on Monday for a scan?!! Alice has Croup(I didn't think children had that any more!) Ed has a streaming cold! Polly seems OK for the minute! Well, the lack of drama lasted all of 48hrs!! I don't know about you guys, but my G.children ALWAYS seem to have something wrong with them for most of every winter!!! I can't remember constantly having colds and coughs when I was little, can you? never mind Croup!!!!! mind you, no central heating and brisk parents could have had something to do with it! you had to be half dead to get past my mother!!!!

Oh Liz you do make me laugh!!!!!! pmsl.......................

No I don't remember being ill much at Christmas time when I was young. I did have chicken pox one year and mum and dad both had bad flu when I was in my teens. I just went out on my track byke with my best friend.

Received your pic Liz and as Jane said nice to put a face to a name.

You lot with your veg in your garages..................it will freexe in there and not be any good especially carrots. Put it in a box and in a cool room in the house or you won't be able to get a knife in it!!

I have'nt done a thing today!! Just took some pics with my small camera but can't find the lead to download them!! Have had 4 draws out in pc desk and there is only the big one to go. If it's not in there I don't know where it is. The only other place I can think of is with the booklet to the camera and I moved that when clearing the bedroom out and don't know where that is now!!!!!!!!!

David do hope you are not so low today. Remember it is not really a good time to put your house on the market. Better luck in spring maybe or after Christmas.

We wrapped our bag of potaoe's up in one of hubby's old dust sheets in the shed , and we put the bag on an old rug ,just to make sure it was off the concrete floor .
Just line a cardboard box with newspapers and put your veg in then they should be ok i always take my veg out of the plastic bags too and keep the box off the floor .

Liz , our grandchildren always seem to have colds now ,if its not one its the other ,i think its since Jake has been at school ,he seems to bring allsorts home !!
DIL says colds she can cope with, its the sickness bugs she's not keen on !!!

I don't think children these days play outside so much as we did as children. I was always down the stables when young so outside a lot. Also the schools have so much heat now much more than when we went to school. Then out in the playground for break and back in the heat again. I don't think that does them any good at all.

We have'nt had any more snow today and we have had about 47 blackbirds in the orchard eating the fallen apples still plus some field fares.

My Robins have been down to my hand to feed again tonight. I had 6 around me at one time and two came to my hand while I was standing up. When I told OH he said he had been training them for me!!!!!! Cheek...............

Annx Report 18 Dec 2010 17:31

Hi Everyone,

More snow your way then Liz. Can I see the pic of you please? We have had snow since lunchtime, really thick flakes at times, then almost stops, then thick again.

OH was up bright and early and off to Wait*rose to collect his free biccies with a coupon and pick up a newspaper, then we went to the farm shop and got a few bits and bobs. The brussels were £1.25 a stick and looked good, but we are going back in the week to get the veg. Then we went for a walk on the country park and back through the village. OH was well wrapped up, 3 layers more than me and still cold. Lots of dogs with coats on, tearing about, but one was most interested in the fresh molehills......he kept going back for a second and third sniff, even though his housemate was tearing after balls. lol The ground was rock hard with the frost and ice everywhere.

When we got back I set OH on doing some jobs while I made some mince pies. As soon as they were done he was there wanting to eat them!!!!..... before they were even out of the tin!! Most are in the freezer now so there will be some left for next week. lol. I have prepared most of the salad for tea tomorrow when OH's parents will be coming. I was going to put the lettuce in the conservatory, but thought it may freeze overnight so I'm leaving that till tomorrow now.

There was another mouse in the trap in the loft so OH threw it in the field over the bottom fence........should be a nice snack for something that's hungry.

Fiona, I meant to ask whether the reflux is better now you have finished those antibiotics.

Very impressed with YOUR Robin training Mel, I've been putting out cheap (?!) porridge oats for the troops, and they seem to love them. I gave Millie some and she seemed quite impressed! should fill her up,she always seems so hungry, must be the cold weather, OH says it could be W...s!! what a stupid comment as I only 'did' her 2 weeks ago, 'Oh! 'said OH 'you didn't tell me that'! end of conversation as I couldn't be bothered to reply!!!!! Mel, I hope you've found that lead!! it's so much what I do, put things in a 'safe place' and then promptly forget what I've done, it's SO annoying!!. You make me laugh too!! You're right about children though, my 'young' are ferried everywhere, and are always DOING something, as opposed to just 'playing'! quite sad I think!
