5.28pm

All our veg is in box's in the garage. Was thinking of putting brussels and parsnips in the snow to get a frost on them. Only joking I know the frost will ruin them.

Still snowing here, we have had a good two inches 5 cm.!!!

I don't remember having colds as a kid. Chaped legs where your short trousers finished. that mum would rub with vasaline. It we kids showed signs of a chill. It was Campthoated oil, on your chest ,back and FEET. and wrapped up warm for a few days. As you say, no heating, no carpets, only slip mats beside the bed. Ice on the inside of the windows, But you had no option but to get on with it. Walked to school in all sorts of weather. often soaked through to the skin., but never allowed to go hame again.

Just listening to the local news, roadfs closed all around us with jack knifed lorries. M 1 at luton airport, A 1 (M) A 43 Towcester. Must ring No. 1 son and warn him.

I think you are right Mel. Schools, and shops for that matter, are boiling compared with when we were young. We would be well wrapped up, but out playing with friends whenever we could. We walked or cycled to school in the fresh air too and we didn't have central heating when I was little. I'm sure all the changing from hot to cold and cold to hot isn't good.

You have reminded me Frank......chapped legs......red lines where the top of my wellies chafed. Wet feet too from the hole in the bottom of a shoe. As the frosts came in, out came the liberty bodice!! lol

Annx Report 18 Dec 2010 17:54

Just remembered something that made me smile when we were out for our walk.........2 little girls on ponies and the ponies had tinsel around their necks.

Annx Report 18 Dec 2010 18:01

Wasn't depressed when I posted that.Just stating it.

My house hasn't been on the market long.Just a few weeks.
Saddened that we are to sell, eventually.
We could do a managed let and be out of here soon, but Ellen doesn't want to go down that road.

Weather bitterly cold here but no snow.

Fiona Report 18 Dec 2010 19:30

Evening all
Thanks for the pics Jane , your sister has certainly got a lot of snow, looks about as much as we got a week or so ago.

Ann, I certainly feel better since I finished the antibiotics BUT I am still being careful about what I eat, certain foods like bread rolls, (to heavy for my stomach) bacon (causes acid taste in my mouth at the moment, ) also try not to eat a big meal after 7.00pm , I feel very bloated & stuffed. just taking my time and not over doing it, I really enjoyed a larger shandy last weekend and boy did I suffer for it must have been the larger as I am ok with lemonade or coke.

Annx Report 18 Dec 2010 20:08

Looks lovely Mel.......like it's a shame to step on it and spoil it!! I have managed to lose my new little hoover instructions.....how to empty it?? I think I will have to look online.

Honey and lemon, lovely and soothing. I still like it for a tickly throat Liz. I always remember dad with his head over a bowl of menthol smelling steam and a towel over his head when he had a cold.

I suppose it may take a while for your tum to get used to eating some things again Fiona. I suppose its gently does it and see how things go. I can't eat late anymore or I get indigestion when I go to bed, especially if I eat rich things.

Jane I have em you. Think I am off to bed now.......feel shattered and need to be up early tomorrow. Night, night all xx

No more snow at present, I think we have had about 3 " Lewis is on his way. His dad has a 4 x 4 truck. so shouldn't be any problem. Have just had the India takaway delivered. Put it in a warm oven till they arrive. I have cleared a path from the front door to the road. Save them bringing the snow in.

Jane, You can get in your car and have a rid out, I'm sure you will find snow !!!

Jane

Jane Report 18 Dec 2010 20:33

Thanks Ann for the email .
Shirl ,my sister has a tree in her front garden that has Mistletoe growing on it.She would love to get rid of the tree as it is right in front of her window ,but she won't because of the Mistletoe.I usually get some from her every year.

David ,I'm pleased you weren't depressed when you did that post ................but we all obviously thought you were lol.It just goes to show that it is difficult to get the right take on the way someone says something on the computer.
Mel I loved all your pics.Told Janice about them and she asked me to send her one of your garden with the snow.I did ,so hope you don't mind.
