Frank, watch your coughs and sneezes.Mine turned into a bit more like a flu.I had to have a lie down just now !! Thought I could do more than I could.I'm puffing and wheezing like an old boiler. But the most important thing I have to do this afternoon is to get to the Hairdressers for a cut.It desperately needs the colour doing, but I don't think I can face an extra hour on top of the cut,and coughing all over the place.I don't want to spread my bugs.
It is not nice outside at all with that biting wind. Our birds squabble too Frank.especially those Robins.Feisty things they are.
off to get a coffee.BBL 12.09

Afternoon All,
Bitterly cold here but no more snow. We went and got the Turkey and it is now in the cold conservatory. The farmer had cleared all the track up to the farm so no problem getting there. The young cattle were having a hearty breakfast when we arrived, all snug in their winter quarters. They must wonder what's going on with all the people arriving for their Turkeys. The 3 little Jack Russells were all over the place making friends with the customers. One had a poorly paw and was having a little hop every so often.
Everything is DONE now, OH has gone to visit an old football pal who is virtually housebound, looking after his mother who has alzheimers. I think she must be about 89 now. It won't be a cheery visit, but his friend will appreciate it......and the bottle of wine. The chap OH took up North to a match (the inflatable croc one!) recently has done an article in the local paper and described OH as a Veteran Fan!!!! lol, lol He is so right, OH has been a fan of his team for 50 years now.......don't think that's going to change now........I must advertise for a 'Saturday Afternoon Boyfriend'!!! lol....
Well, he managed to ping a button off his shirt this morning.......another job for me, so I better do that now......

Just saw your post Jane. Sorry you are still suffering with that bug. Little spurts and lie downs is the best way when you feel like that isn't it. Don't overdo it will you. I bet the children are keeping away.......they won't want your bugs!! Is Chris better now? Colour seems to take ages at the hairdressers, mine has loud music, not what you want when your head is fuzzy either.
That Blackbird will need all the food to get his energy back after all that chasing Frank. I have only seen the Robin at the fatball this week......unless the little birds have been coming before we get up. The Magpies have had the lion's share of the table scraps.
Back to that button.....

And I am just about to go out in it.I realise it is probably going to be very busy in town and it might be difficult to get a parking space. Back Later 13.39

Evening all, No frost again this morning ,and lots of the snow has gone ,i think we've had a good thaw today .
Had a busy day ,made my Sausage rolls this morning ,i got them done early before son and family came for coffee, and they went home with a container of Sausage rolls , Jake stayed with us ,he didn't want to go home ,then we went off to Tes*o's as Son and family decided they wanted a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings on Monday ,i thought i was going to have a quiet day on Monday !!!! So off we went to get a Turkey and other bits and pieces. Did manage to buy a fresh turkey and more sprouts !!! Not to bad in the store and going on to the car park was ok ,but when it came to getting off the car park ,it took ages .
Thank you Shirley for the Christmas wishes , i hope you have a very Happy Christmas too.
Glad your feeling a bit better Jane , sounds as if you might have passed on to Frank lol Going to get my veg all done first thing tomorrow and lay the table then maybe in the afternoon i'll be able to relax , i will not be going to Tes*o's again !!! anything i haven't got we can go without !!!

Shirl ,I'm not that keen on Nutmeg. But now you have reminded me I need to buy some lemons!.........for those that like a slice in their drinkies .
I think all the snow we have will still be on the ground on Xmas Day,so it will definitely be a white Xmas even if it is not falling from the sky lol
Mandy I feel very sorry for the Lady in Holt. She moved there from Somerset to be near a daughter .But has found it not a very friendly place. So is desperate to get back to where here friends are in Somerset.I haven't seen her since I was a little girl but she and her Husband were good friends with Mum and Dad when I was adopted and when my sister was brought home from the Mother and Baby home .Her Husband drove my Dad to Exeter to get my sister .How different were things in those days !!!! 20.20

Thanks for your good wishes Shirl........hope you have a lovely Christmas too. COLIN........OMG I shall have to be careful!!
OH has been eating like a horse today.......now we have to get more bread in the morning. lol Up early again!
We'll do the veg and salad stuff in the morning while the gammon and sausage rolls are cooking. OH is quite good with the peeler, so he'll do the veg and I'll sort the Turkey in it's tin.
The knitting is growing Mandy, nearly at the heel now and looking good! OH seems to be weighing up what size the foot will be......I must make sure it turns out smaller than HIS foot!!! lol Katie's little half smile is lovely......a little charmer!
How sad about the lady Jane. It must have been a difficult decision to move there in the first place. She must really miss her old friends.
When OH went to see his friend he was shocked when he answered the door using a zimmer frame and he can hardly walk now. Up to 3 years ago he used to travel to away games with OH and me and was fine and used to walk everywhere. Since then his mum couldn't be left and he has hardly left the house. I can't help feeling his legs mightn't have been so bad if he hadn't just been sitting in the house all the time. Such a shame, he's only in his 60s, but he won't consider any other option for his mum. He once had plans to retire to Cornwall and do lots of walking.
Off to bed now, quite tired. night night xx

Jane, they used to say that a lot of the homes in and around Holt were second homes ,owned by people from London, there are some nice shops in Holt , Prince Charles wife Camilla shops there , i know there was a lot of huha because her car pulled up on double yellow lines and blocked the whole road while she shopped !!!
Your doing well with the knitting Ann, is OH looking at the sock to see if its going to be big enough to put your pressie in lol Yes Katie's sweet, she now waves bye bye , she's also standing on her own and has taken two steps before she drops down and crawls to you.
Will say night night now xx

Been out nearly all day.
Got shopping that I forgot the other day and some more chickens food. Now set for the week ahead.
Still did'nt get a tree as there was'nt any about in Holsworthy.
Will have to use the old one as I am not going without a tree. Shall just have to cover it in lots and lots of baubles and lights and strings of red and gold beads to fill in the holes.
Thanks for the emails Frank and Mandy and Liz.

Morning Mel and Everyone. I do feel a lot better thanks Mel ,but this chesty cough is driving me and everyone mad !.I can't smell or taste anything. Just nipped to Tes** and is was fairly quiet except for the Salvation Army, playing Carols in the doorway. It was SO loud, but lovely I have a pork loin in the oven at the moment ,and then the ham will go in about lunch time when Fitz brings me the cloves. Then I will make that starter for tomorrow. That will just need warming through.
It doesn't feel so cold today ,it is cloudy but the snow hasn't thawed. There are hundreds and hundred of pidgeons in the trees, and they suddenly all take off together. It is quite a sight.
Has Frank gone yet?I can't remember if he said what time they were going to Rutland. Off for a coffee now.BBL 11.02
