What a pain for Hannah with her pay Jane.......I bet she is hoping they get things right next month!! l How about something like Somerset pork, chops or loin, with apple rings, sliced mushrooms, sliced onion if liked, cooked in cider like a casserole and a few spoonfuls of cream stirred in before serving with mustard mash and veg. Very tasty and can be done in advance!! Might have it myself New Year's Day now.

Might it go up a bit in price after 31st December Mel with the VAT increase? Might be worth ringing the shop to check.......some shops are not increasing it on goods in their sales.

Who's got Doughnuts !!!! i have a doughnut maker in the cupboard ,it was sons and he'd never used it .
Its now in my cupboard and i've never used it , i don't have a booklet for it so i'am not sure of the right mixture for it .

We had frozen chips tonight too,with some more of the meat !!! i didn't realise these joints were that big !!!

Quite fancy a ride to the coast tomorrow , just got to talk hubby into it lol mind you if its thick fog like today we won't be able to see anything, could be even thicker there.

I remember when I was little our next door neighbour had a wooden chalet in the back garden with a veranda.It was put there for Grandad Warren (the neighbour) when he had TB.I used to love playing in it with their Grandson Steven.

Liz i am sorry I meant to say I hope Polly soon feels better.It is crazy at the moment .Everyone is ill.The Hospitals have stopped visiting unless it is for Ladies having babies ,or critically ill patients.

Mel, the jam 'oozed'? I always found it squirted, well it did from those round ones.....usually over my top! I can't remember when I last had a doughnut either........probably because of the squirt factor.

That actually sounded lovely Ann,but I am doing Chicken breasts with asparagus wrapped with Pancetta .My little roast potatoes,carrots,green beans,broccoli .Then Pudding will be either the Sherry Trifle that my sister brought on Monday or Raspberry Pannacota(sp).

Something is pinging in the kitchen so I better move it and groove it .

You won't believe this?! I'vejust been out to the kichen, turned on the light, and, BANG!! ALL the lights went out!! OH found a torch and found the trip switch had tripped!! The outside light bulb had blown, and away went the trip!! all OK now, BUT what next?!! Thanks everyone for your kind words about Polly, I do worry a bit about her; all these gymnastics, school and heaven knows what, I think she gets overloaded, but, I DON'T say so!!!! Am watching 1940 Dig on TV, really interesting, oh! it's over now!!! back to Miss Marples!!! Jam Doughnut? Yum!!

I am ready for bed now.Have just started coughing again and got a lot of dirty looks .I apparently kept Hannah awake last night.

I just noticed the Christmas Tree was looking a bit tipsy.It was leaning forward and the Angel looked almost ready to tip off.James has screwed the trunk in a bit tighter ,so hopefully it will stay put now.

Another dull and damp day here. The weather like this dos'nt make naybody feel better does it? Hope Polly's a bit better today Liz.

I seem to still have this cold I had before Christmas, can't seem to shake it off. Keep sneezing.

I really don't know where this year has gone! It only seems like we were chatting about last years Christmas a little while ago. So many of us have problems this year too so I hope next year will be better for all of us. Lets keep our fingers crossed ehh!!

It's like a sanatorium here lol.Both Chris and James have woken up feeling awful.I will be off to stock up on more paracetamol and tissues in a while.Why are males so grumpy when they don't feel well!!!!!

It is very thick fog here again really nasty.
Mandy I have usually been lucky exchanging duplicate books.I hope you get what you want.
I think I will go now and then get back early to clean up and tidy before visitors tonight.

I've already taken the book back Mel, i got it from Tes*o's ,i did wonder if they would take it back ,as what's stopping you buying a book reading it and then taking it back !! but they did ,no problem.

I must admit i did have a quick look through it before i wrapped it up ,it was Turn Back Time The High Street book .

Lots of people with coughs and colds , you'd think with the frosts we've had it would have killed off a lot of the germs and bugs about .

Yes Mel ,lets hope the new years brings better times for everyone .

Was unable to contact my nieces yesterday, I thing they took the phone off so as not to be disturbed. Might try again today.My bfrother is waiting for a scan today. to see what his problem is.

Secret Garden April cried all over Christmas she thought daddy would turn up to see her and I had to explain she would see him in heaven so she put on her coat to go to him the toys cheered her up we cried a little after Ryan played a rendering of Mat singing Marys Boychild.

Sheila, glad your Christmas went off ok ,hope you all enjoy the theatre today ,poor little April she is missing her Daddy.

Well we went to the garden center and i bought my sister a Open Ended Log Basket ,they had their gas fire taken out and now have an open fire ,when we went they had their logs on the hearth so i thought it was something she could do with .
Still foggy here in places ,but temp up to 6 degrees .

Have just come of f SKYPE talking to SHIRL. A little tearful of course, but holding up.

Norman woke about 4am struggling for breath, Shirl gave him sweet drink for his diabetis attack and his tablets. He settled down again till about 7am when he woke again. she gave him more drink, and he laid down and took quite a big breath. Mark their son had just left for work, Shirl, went back to the bed, his eyes were closed and he had passed away. She called 911 Police ambulance fire brigade all turned out. They laid him on the floor and tried to resuccatate him,but to no avail. He was left there till the Doctor arrived to pronounce him dead quite a few hours later. This was very upsetting for the Children, as they had to get down on their knees to say their goodbyes.They went to the Funeral Hall, and they told her "they had a back up" but managed to cremate him yesterday. They will hold a service for him next week.

I will off course speak with her on a regular basis, and let you know how she's going on.

Thankyou Frank for letting us know what happened to Norman.Fancy him being left like that on the floor.I can just imagine how upsetting that was.
It does sound as though he passed away very quickly ,which is a blessing.
A terrible shock though.Poor Shirl,my heart goes out to her and her family.
