Afternoon all,

We've had a little drizzle this morning ,but its not really cold , i thought they said more snow for us today .

Mel, its on here on New Years Eve when its free to search between 6pm and 8pm ,and it says search all our records ,so it must be the 1911 too.
If you look on the home page and click on Start your family Tree week you'll see what it says .

Been to sons to sit with Jake and Chelsea while they took Katie to the doctors ,she has a nasty cold, really chesty , they've just got to give her Calp*l and keep her in the warm .

I hope you get those pipes sorted Mel.Thats is a right bu****.Hannah just went to check her house and thankfully no burst pipes there.Phew!
WE now have a complete thaw here, just a few tiny snowy icy patches. The birds must be pleased.I know I'm pleased not to keep having to defrost that birdbath lol.

Frank,I know you won't be there tomorrow ,but I hope the funeral for your sister goes as well as possible for your sisters and the Grandchildren.

I 've been thinking what to have for dinner tonight, and have decided it will be cold meats(again) mash potato, red cabbage and lots of other veg that need to be eaten. Not forgetting some of those puddings that are left lol

What on earth is 'Sheep shit Pie' Mel! Imagination boggles!!! All OK here, damp and drizzly day, but most of the snow is well and truly 'on it's way'! Have just come back from Tiverton, bought a pair of really WARM bedroom slippers!! now the winter will stay mild, wet and windy for sure!! Tried to go to Tivvy the back way, but the roads were still VERY icy and nearly got stuck!! so had to turn round and go the main way, Thanks for the upload Frank, and the piccy of the sock Annx, very impressed!!! Don't know what to have for supper, it sick of food actually especially cold!!! Have to have a think!!

Jane

Jane Report 28 Dec 2010 15:12

Mandy ,they DID forecast snow for us.I wonder what happened to it lol.
Poor Katie,I hope she feels better soon.I bet she feels miserable.
Hannah is now complaining of a sore throat. That is how I started. She is due back to work tomorrow.James too is saying he has one.I wonder who they will blame ????
I have eaten and drunk quite little this Christmas, but my taste is coming back now so I am enjoying a glass of wine and some nibbles.

15.12.....................The ironing can wait.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Dec 2010 15:17

Liz ,have you not heard of Mels Sheep Shit Pie?? lol.I'll let her tell you what it is.

My daughter had some slippers that you plug into the laptop and they heat up!!!!!!.Brilliant idea I thought if you suffer from cold feet.Chris had a mug warmer pad thing that also plugs into the laptop to keep your drinks hot.

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Dec 2010 15:41

We're having cold meat tonight with mashed potato and pickles ,just for a change lol
That's the trouble with colds ,one person has it and it goes right through the house !! just what Hannah needs when its time to go back to work , bet your names mud lol

Little Katie's not to bad ,DIL rang the doctors last night at about seven ,just to see if she could give her Calp*l and a cough medicine and they said they would ring her back ,DIL said they eventually rang her back at twenty past four !!!! this morning ,they were all asleep by then !!! thats when they said to bring her in this morning so they could take a look at her.

I think the snow turned to rain before it got us ,look at all the snow they have in America !! hope we don't get snow like that here, one poor man had snow over his knees!!! we would need waders to go out in it !!!

Afternoon All,

Just had my last bit of the turkey on a sandwich. OH is in the bath and having his later when we have the xmas puddings. Still got lots of salad, pate, cakes and 2 deserts which are in the freezer. It will be nice to get back to normal eating again!!

Frank, how generous.......I bet the girls loved that! I'm with you all the way about being relaxed at home. We are often in our dressing gowns too by 7.00pm. Why was your neighbour fretting about the cat........he would soon find the warmest spots in the bungalow I'm sure and have been fine. Our floor even has warm spots where the pipes run through. Your neighbour seems to like fiddling with things.......other people's at that!!!

A shame about the Koi Mel. Glad your OH is getting the water pipes sorted. If anything leaks here it would be panic stations to stop it as we are on a water meter!! Our outside tap pipe has a home made long, thin, polystyrene box over it, gaffer taped to the wall. Just remembered we need to do the combi boiler overflow pipe too. If water in that freezes the boiler goes off and NO HEATING! We need some of that round lagging for that......on the shopping list now.

Annx

Annx Report 28 Dec 2010 16:35

Oh no Jane, I don't think you are going to be popular sharing your bugs!!! lol, lol Glad you are feeling better than you did though. Glad little Katie's not too bad too. Everywhere I have been the past 2 days it has been coughs and sniffles. I keep moving on sharply when I hear them. lol

It has rained here quite a lot of the day. The chap over the road was clearing his drive of the snow yesterday when we went out. This morning it had all gone anyway with the rain in the night. We were over Melton way again this afternoon and it was very foggy there, but there was still snow about. Supposed to be getting warmer up to the weekend around here.....what then I wonder??

Jane

Jane Report 28 Dec 2010 16:59

Well I have just cleared the room..........I am singing along to TAKE THAT Concert. So What .I don't know all the words and may be a bit out of tune. I just love them and now have my stage to myself lolol.Chris says for goodness sake you are 56 not 26 !!!!!.My answer was ...so????

I loved that sock Ann.

Liz my pie is really shepherds pie but that is what OH calls it!!

We had a mist come down as I went out to feed the chickens. It just hung above the ground like in a film. It was beautifull over the valley through the kitchen door. OH has run some fresh water in the pond this afternoon to get rid of some of the amonia that builds up in the water.

Hope all who have colds get over them quickly.

Shirl has asked me to pass on some dreadful news to you all on the thread. Her OH passed away at 7.00 am this morning. I am so shocked I can hardly believe it. She has said she will talk later.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Dec 2010 19:48

Oh Ann, that's awful news ,poor Shirley ,such a shock .

Jane

Jane Report 28 Dec 2010 20:11

My thoughts are with Shirl now at this terribly sad time .Goodness what a shock. It must have been sudden.
There has been so much sadness on here over the last months .I can't believe how many people have lost a family member.
Be back a little later

9.26pm

My sympathy goes out to you Shirl, not a good year for you.

Rang my neighbour this evening, didn't seem at all concerned that the heating is still not working.Conrad and I are going over in the morning to see what we can do. If any problem, I will have to get out a plumber. What cost will that be in the holidays, dosen't bear thinking about.

Lewis is now with us again till Friday, He's playing on his X box with Conrad, while i'm on my computer. The girls are watching TV.in the lounge.

We had a Roast Pork dinner tonight, I only had a small portion, not very hungry, sitting around all day. Turkey curry tomorrow. lunchtime will be ham and salad, or in my case HAM SARNIE. I don't eat much salad.Still got a load of Brixworth Pate to eat. Nice but so much GARLIC.

Poor old snowman sitting in the muddle of the lawn all alone, no snow to be seen anywhere.

Trust you are all getting plenty of liquids down you with these colds. You know the old saying "FEED A COLD etc" Mine didn't turn into anything, thank goodness.

Will report back tomorrow, if I get back up here,

Goodnight God bless

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Dec 2010 22:02

We are all here for you when you wish to join us again.

My deepest sympathy Mel xxx

Jane

Jane Report 28 Dec 2010 22:02

LOL Frank. That Brixworth Pate reeks of Garlic.I daren't go anywhere near anyone for several days after eating it.

Thinking of our Shirl tonight.

I'm off to bed now,I feel quite bushed.I will be back to dog walking duties tomorrow!I've quite enjoyed my few days off.
Night Night x

Annx

Annx Report 28 Dec 2010 22:44

Just watched Upstairs Downstairs too and agree with you Mandy. I think it got better with each episode but not as good as Downton.

What a bind having to go back Frank! Let's hope your neighbour overlooked something basic and has just switched the heating off!!

Keep thinking about Shirl, hope she's ok.

Off to bed now, Night, night All. xx
