Afternoon everyone,
Another frosty start to the day ,but when i went to Tes*o's the screen on the car had cleared so the temp must be up .
I have sorted through one kitchen cupboard ,chucked out three saucepans ,a frying pan, several chipped plates and dishes and put back some bits that i should probably have throw away !!
I hope all goes well for your daughters exam Fiona, i'am sure the home will be very grateful for the clothes, i'am sure there's some residents who don't have many clothes and could make good use of them .
Frank, you'd have thought they would have got Ros in this month ,after all they made the mistake !!so that's more weeks she has to put up with the pain .

Hey Thanks for letting me join you. Was hoping to do some shopping today but the pouring rain and the fact that my other half has developed conjunctivitus overnight blew that idea so I have cleaned out the fridge. It's amazing the rubbish you can collect over the Christmas period but now I am feeling virtuous!!!

Disjointed day today! OH woke in the night coughing, woke me and Millie (who thought it was morning!!) took ages to get back to sleep. This morning OH went out so I rang Laura and was on the phone to her for ages, which was nice as she sounded quite chipper!! after that I went to get a floor cloth from underneath the kitchen sink, opened the cupboard doors to discover that a pipe had worked loose and under the sink was flooded!! emptied it all out, mopped it up and put a bucket in place!! and went next door to say 'Hello' to nice neighbour When OH came in it was a nice little job for him!!! when I came back it was fixed but I had to hear how there was a LOT of grease and rubbish in the pipe!!! pointed out that I'm not the only one who uses the sink!!! not much comment from OH, so left it at that!!! walked Millie, had lunch and here I am!!! Very dark and dismal here today, just about to pour with rain. You are very welcome Ann, I hope you stay with us and join in all our banter! Enjoyed 'Larkrise' but. they are ALL too clean, and perhaps a bit too virtuouse?!!!

Hi all Finely can take a rest. done all my chores today as OH worked from home seeing we went to see the Solicitors which went fine by the way, collected dad's clothes , the staff had them washed, ironed and all packed in boxes for us. also gave me a photo album of photo's they had taken of dad's activities over the last year, that was a lovely gesture. I have promised to keep intouch and let them know how Sofia is getting on.
Glad maureen's ok,
Look forward to hearing your childhood stories Anne wether their long or small, it's good to have someone new, their stories often trigger about memories we had forgotten.
I can't decided if were having chicken or mince tonight, thank goodness the turkey's all gone, waiting for daughter no 2 to phone . she said she hopefully will be home about 6.

Hi all, and welcome again to Anne.
Have had half hour on SKYPE to Shirl. She is very cherpy and having a laugh and joke will me and Ros, Ros, was sitting at the table beside the computer doing a jigsaw, so could hear all that was being said. She sends her love to you all.
Just a little tip for you girls. If came from Harvey, eldest son. If your detergant and softner get bunged up in the draw of the washing machine and the little holes (JETS) get blocked, use "LIMELIGHT" it's a lime scale remover, just spray it up into the nozzles (JETS) and it disolves the gunge. and clears the jets. Ros has started to use it, and she says the machine is better than it's ever been. Might be a bit of useless information, but who knows.
Had a real lazy day again. Ros have been washing, I've been reading yesterday's paper and been on computer.
Anne, What part of Yorkshire are you living.???? and are you in our age group. I need to know so I can add you to my list of "GIRLS" It's a stanard JOKE with everyone on here, They refer to me as the silly old S#d !!!! but all in good humour. I was born and bread in London, and have lived here since 1964. Married twice two of my own children, two of Ros's (my wife.) All ove 40 years old. Never see my own children or Grandchildren. But have one wonderful G'son from Ros's eldest. His name is Lewis and 12 years old. Please join in with us, you will be most welcome.
Ann, Around this way you can get a Monthly ticket to the cinema. It might be worth you looking into that. You can go as many times as you like, and see upto 10 films a week. You could take your lunch with you and stay the day. lol lol
Wheres our Jane today. wrapped up in front of the fire, or knitting another jumper for her son !!!!

Hi Ann,Nice to see you have joined us .Beware of that FRANK !!!!!!!!! He can be a bit of a devil you know lol My Mum too was in a home and I left her clothes for anyone who could make use of them.Mum was always very particular about her clothes and they all had 'good ' labels.Eastex,Jaques Vert ,Windsmoor etc. They must have been a smart lot of ladies lol.Mum always had a few airs and graces we called her Mrs Bucket(bouquet) lol.In a nice way of course.
Well I was just going to start peeling spuds when Fitz turned up(Ann, Fitz is a friend and he lives down the lane). He needed to escape from his Mother !! So as usual we had a glass of wine ,and then my James arrived home.So now about 3 hours later I have just done the pots and veg .
I am in Kettering ,Northants ,not far from Frank who lives about 20 miles away. Our little gang are spread from Devon to Scotland to Canada. We are a decent lot !!!!! and yak on about anything and everything.
Maureen is fine ,I spoke to her the other evening ,but she hasn't got her new computer yet.She said it can take 2 hours or more to boot up (or whatever you call it) and then it can suddenly crash. She may get your emails if you send her one. Must go and attend to cooking .BBL

Having cold chicken and chips tonight after my somewhat annoying day! tomorrow WILL be different! probably worse!!! Having to get use to 'doing' Merlin for when OH isn't able to! He's very good but a bit prancy if you know what I mean! I'm not really a 'horse' person, cats and dogs are more my thing, but he is a lovely boy and I am fond of him., so must get to grips with the care bit!!! Some people we know in the village dropped off a late Xmas parcel or us today! biscuits, jams and tea, all done up in a nice basket! really kind of them, but embarassing as we only sent a card!! will have to just say 'thankyou' as anything else looks a bit obvious!! Nasty neighbours away till 14th April!!!! apparently they're cruising to China and Japan! OH hopes that they may get locked up in China! wishful thinking I'm afraid! Someone coming to view the house on Saturday, knows ALL the problems, and is still interested! Laura said 'perhaps you'll have moved by the time they come back'!! again, wishful thinking!!!

Me knit a jumper Frank??? I don't think so lol.I am just a straight plain and purl girl .A scarf would be about my limit ,including a few dropped stitches along the way.
Fiona I hope your daughter has done well today in her Exam.
My lounge was tidy a couple of hours ago .It now looks like a tip.........James!!!! 17.40

Oh good another Threadateer!!!!!!
WELCOME ANNE
So nice to have someone new on the thread is'nt it all??
I have been shopping to Bideford. The place looked like a ghost town when I arrived, hardly a soul about but it was pelting with rain.
At first the shop was quite quiet and I got along fine. Do you think I could find the blimmin Mango Chutney. Three times I went round the isles and eventually found it.
Bought OH some nice mussles in garlic butter at only £1.75, £1 off so he was treated.
Treated myself to another box of Ferrera Rocher as they were marked down too.
Had stopped raining when I came out but started the moment I got on the road home. It's been really filthy here today.
Stir fry tonight veg, beansprouts, rice noodles, chicken and spicy tom sauce.

Yes, welcome Anne......I am t'other Ann without an 'e'. We are always happy to see new people on here so please join in whenever you want to. I love the Yorkshire Dales and have spent several happy holidays there. I'm in Leicestershire about 45 mins from Jane.
Mandy!!! lol I think my knees would get me up to the back row ok now, but getting down again after 2 hours sitting would be quite another matter....... there is nothing to hang onto. lol, lol. There were only 4 others watching the film today. The music was really, really noisy at the start so I had to put bits of kitchen roll in my ears......I always go prepared! When it got to the gory bit OH was squirming in his seat.....and it was him who wanted to see it as well. lol A good film though. I might have to look into that if he keeps whiskiing me off to see films at this rate Frank!! Glad you have made Shirl have a chuckle....it will do her good.
Hope your daughter's exam went ok Fiona. That was a nice gesture by you and by the home to let you have some photos. They sound very thoughtful and caring. I meant to say you will LOVE your Wii. OH and I don't like computer games on the whole, but we love the Wii. We got ours 2 years ago. It is quite addictive and the tennis in Wii Sports is very good....we play it 2-3 times a week. Sports Resort is another brilliant dvd to get in the future!!
I had the drain in the cupboard under the sink leak last year.....what a mess it made.......soggy soap powder etc......good opportunity to clean the cupboard out though. Ponies get used to who handles them don't they Liz.....and behave 'better' for the regulars. lol

OH has just gone to footie. He had laid all the clothes he was going to wear on the bed.....thick socks, sweatshirt to go over his shirt, bodywarmer, jacket, anorak, scarf, gloves, hat. I took one look and said to him, 'I bet it was quicker getting medieval knights ready for battle!!' lol
The slow cooker sounds good Jane. Put everything in in the morning and leave it to it and just the one pot to wash. Ideal when you are out to arrive home with dinner cooked.

Hi All
Thank you all for a very warm welcome. I am 61 years old and living in North Yorkshire having arrived here via Durham and Herfordshire. I am married with one son, who lives near Berkhamsted and one wonderful granddaughter. I love everything to do with the countryside and enjoy travelling with my hubby. On the question of childhood memories; can anyone remember trolley buses? I used to go to school on one everyday in Newcastle and always loved them. I love cooking and collect cookery books having over 200 so if you ever need a recipe...so saying we have just enjoyed an Indian takeaway. We have a super local Indian which delivers so its ideal.

Daughter no 2 & Boyfriend back safe & sound, so we had dinner and they have left, daughter getting boyfriends cold, but not bothered as exam is over. she said she thinks she's done well, so thats good. she will have to travel down to Uni on Thursdays now and has only to go to the end of April and thats her finished, Don't know what will happen then, but we do know she will have to go on the dole and find a job.,OH says he is no longer going to support a 23 year old once she's finished uni, time to stand on her own two feet, But she know's we are always be there for her.
Anne , I live in the West of Scotland not far from Glasgow and you can bet when everyone else on here is getting good weather during the summer we are getting rain, I was born in Sunderland and moved up to Scotland about 20 years ago,
Annx some of the sports on the Wii are great fun. I like the Skiing , not that I'm any good at it ,I keep crashing into the flags. OH loves the golf and is at the moment in competition with daughter no2 boyfriend, I am happy he's playing golf on the Wii and not on a real golf course , as he is always out cycling if he took up golf too I would never see him. poor soul has missed going out on his bike over the last few weeks because of the bad weather, he is complaining about the extra wieght he has put on especially after all the food at christmas
I myself have lost weight over the last month or so due to the stomach infection I had and of course the worry over dad I just didn't have much of an appitite , I now need to get back to building myself up. I was 7stone 7 before dad went into the Hospital for the elderly and now am 7stone 4 Need to start eating more cakes and fattening myself up.

Fiona Your not going to believe this but hubby and I spent the weekend in Glasgow. We went up to see John Barrowman in Aladdin at the SECC on Friday evening. We stayed at the Crown Plaza nextdoor and thoroughly enjoyed oursel;ves. Was amazed to see the snow after the show but it made for wonderful photographs on Saturday in the sunshine. Both hubby and I are very involved in amateur dramatics and we came home Saturday evening in order to work on the scenery for our town panto which is being held at the end of the month. Loved Glasgow and will come again when the weather is better.

hi Jane thank you for your nice thread I hope you are feeling better now and the family. I had to go to a juvenile court today the lad next door also had burgled several other houses in the area .Nothing much happened he is on probation and charges may be made against his family and the judge a lady said that the family should make him become a RAF cadet to broaden his mind and get him off the street..The RAF was an interest he said. His dad is so upset.
April was not fooled by that silly man at COSY NOOK however Rashers seems to have got some sickness it never ends for that family.April said he needs a doctor nannie I thought so do I April all those phone calls bless her 3 yesterday and two today about everything from missing her daddy more thanever and Rashers illness and Jeannie Jones at school had pushed her over .. Then uncle Ryan was in trouble April said I told him Rashers was ill and uncle Ryan said Oh well he is a pig April if anything happens to Rashers we will eat him with a nice bit of Apple sauce. .Mean or what. I think daddie got all the calls when he was hermiting in the forest or away in the choir.
My leg is ok now at the moment I managed to drive to the theatre to pick up my tickets for the honoury pantomine with Joanie in it. I had a gold and white back stage card also it will be nice to have a laugh they reckon the panto is very funny. Sorry Mel you could not bring the house up you have to type the number of the house and just move the little circle downwards but it does not matter. I go to the panto on the 27th no photoes are allowed .a rude man when I asked said No madame Miss Collins does not like anything pointed at her it is a security risk but a member of the press may be there. Whats the difference in my camera and his . Do they think I weill shoot her with my throw away camera. crazy people.
