Been married to mine for 23 years. He can retire in June after completing 30 years of service. There was a time when he dreaded the thought of not doing this job, but it has changed so much over the years, it's not the job he joined and he's had enough. Eldest daughter is engaged to PC just coming to the end of his probationary period and she experiencing everything her mum has - she should have learnt from me. Also, no, but he's a real nice young man and dedicated. The Police Support Officier you see on the street are not police officier, they are civilian who have had approximately two weeks training. The do not have the 'power of arrest' and you can't learn the 'law of the land' in two weeks. Hubby is a police training officier and when he was at training school the recruits were there for 14 weeks and had to take exams every week. Yes, there are some very good ones and there are some real swines. Take all sorts. |

Fred - I echo what Wendy has just said - Community Police are a waste of time and money - I would rather have half the number of PROPERLY TRAINED FULLY FLEDGED REAL POLICE on our streets instead of them. REAL officers regard them much in the same way. Magsxx |
