Hi Can anyone help please I am trying to find a birth for a Bernard Riley I have found him in the 1901 Census in Ireland and it gives his place of birth as Warrington England ,It also gives his wife as Mary Ann Riley born in Dublin , I have tried looking for them with up to 5 years apart from the date given in the census but still I can not find them any help very much appreciated thank you in advance

Have you found the births of the children born England to give you a mmn?

The family were in England 1891 an 1881 looking at the places of birth on census.

Both born before registration became compulsory.

looks to be married daughter Jane in 1911 - confirms born England along with brother Joseph also b England.
Married 10 years, 2 children born

Original also shows Mary Ann as Married - 39 years only 4 children alive out of 12 born !!

There are four possible Mary Agneses, but I don't see any Josephs or Janes with the same mms at approx the right years:

Nor any marriage for Jane either in England or in Ireland.

Bernard and Mary Ann's marriage should be c 1871/2 if married for 39 years in 1911.

But that would make them rather young if born c 1855/6 as 1901 census ages suggest, although Mary Ann shown as older in 1911

Not seeing a suitable marriage England/Wales or Ireland or Scotland

??? In Warrington 1861 but born a bit earlier than the 1901 census age suggests. Not born Warrington, but if the family moved there when he was v young he may have thought that was where he was born

Looks good Dea - despite the differences in age and how long they'd been married !!
Getting too late last night to go hunting and just got back to it now.

It is certainly the same Bernard Riley on the 1911 census with his daughter Margaret as the one with wife Mary Ann + family on 1901 census in Ireland !

The fact that they had 12 children and 8 had died also matches. You will note that on the 1911 census of Mary Ann the number of years has been altered - it looks like it was originally forty something but was altered to 39. - As she was claiming her age as 61 I suppose she could not really say she was married around 12 years of age ;-) :-D

I would really appreciate your help to confirm that this is the right one GG - I am sure it is !!
